Staff at ClwydAlyn recently got stuck in and helped decorate and renovate the Clubhouse at Mold Cricket Club.
This came as part of ClwydAlyn’s Give and Gain days, a scheme where we give back to our community by letting staff take part in voluntary work to create better communities.
Housing Link Officer Lisa Jones spoke to us about how she got involved with the Club and the huge difference the improvements are making to all who play there and use the facilities.
She said:
“My two boys, Ollie and George have both played for the Club for several years now. Ollie started by playing for the Under-9s, and George played for the Under-13s, and they both play in the senior team now.
“I went along to meetings at the Club and eventually became part of the Committee, and we got talking about how to get the funding to bring the Clubhouse up to date.
“I told the club committee about ClwydAlyn’s Give and Gain days, where the company gives for the community’s gain, from there we were able to arrange for materials to be donated and for staff to work alongside professionals in painting the kitchen and bathrooms and refitting a whole new kitchen.
“We were lucky that ClwydAlyn donated all of this, including all the units, new flooring, and anti-slip flooring for behind the bar and for the toilets. Myself and my colleague, Welfare Officer Lisa Best, got stuck in and regrouted the tiling and even decorated too!
“The result is that we now have a Clubhouse that is used by the whole community at very reasonable rates. And due to the work done, these rates and the membership fees at the Club are the same as they were six years ago.
“We have a band that rehearses there, a bellringing club, and Slimming World use it one day a week, 52 weeks of the year, and with many ClwydAlyn tenants living in the Mold and surrounding areas, our facilities are available to hire for all kinds of groups year-round thanks to ClwydAlyn donating its time and materials to benefit everybody in our local communities.”
ClwydAlyn’s Give and Gain days come as part of the organisation’s pay and benefits, where staff can volunteer their time to give back to their communities. Fancy being part of this amazing team?
