ClwydAlyn has recently been shortlisted for two top awards for their innovative new developments and its commitment to build quality and greener housing in North Wales.
The UK Housing Awards is the biggest awards in the housing sector, celebrating the outstanding work of landlords who have gone above and beyond for their tenants.
ClwydAlyn has been shortlisted for the ‘Climate Change project of the year award’ which looks at exemplar approaches to deliver new sustainable homes or projects that have improved the sustainability of existing projects, and ‘Homebuilder of the Year award’ showcasing the positive impact quality homes have had on the lives of the people living in them.
“The world we’re living in today is a defining moment in many of our lives and ClwydAlyn is committed to address the matters that have risen, such as the cost of living and climate crisis. As part of our commitment, our team have been working hard on effective responses, looking at new and innovative methods of construction and local supply chains to create zero carbon homes, and support North Wales’ economy.
“These methods have been used in our Glasdir project where 63 timber-frame homes are being built, stretching boundaries, and embracing new technologies to build high-quality, ultra-low carbon homes. Part of this innovation is working closely with our contractor Williams Homes Bala on a new and pioneering scheme that offers mentoring opportunities to offenders at HMP Berwyn where a factory has been set up inside the prison to manufacture the superstructure panels and walls; ensuring those released from prison at some point in the future have an opportunity to gainstable employment. “
ClwydAlyn’s mission is to beat poverty, supporting people to live well in their homes, whilst also addressing the urgency of the climate crisis. The Glasdir project is pushing the limits in building new greener homes and highlights the opportunities that are being developed in the housing industry that will help those experiencing poverty, whilst also building sustainable homes.
The winners of the UK Housing Awards will be announced on the afternoon of Friday 25 November at The Point, Manchester and published in a special edition awards supplement in Inside Housing magazine.
